Tasting Notes | Well- structured and dry with a crisp minerality and a vivid burst of fresh cut lime that carries through and fades long on the finish.

Inspiration | Our inspiration for the Riesling comes mainly from the VDP wines of Germany (dry high-quality Rieslings that sidestep the out of date German quality wine scheme) and to some extent Gruner Veltliners from Wachau, Austria. The huge citrus (specifically lime) flavour matched by a big, sharp structure is what this wine is all about for us.

Winemaker's Notes | We whole-bunch press the Riesling which allows for better drainage in the press via the stems creating channels through the pomace. This method decreases yield but increases the quality of the juice. The Riesling comes at the end of the harvest which means that outside temperatures are low so we can have cool, long fermentations with the ambient temperature. Our Riesling is fermented in variable capacity stainless steel tanks and spends all of its life in stainless steel.

Vineyard | Our Riesling is sourced from Ladyhawke Vineyards, which is owned by Joann Laserich. She’s a dynamic and passionate grower who inspires us greatly. She plays late 70’s and early 80’s Progressive Rock (like Super tramp) to her vines all summer and really devotes herself to their wellbeing. She’s got loads of old fruit trees and other biodiverse areas around her vines which is an important element of sustainability. She’s all about quality and therefore crops low with sensible leaf removal and green harvest practices that really shine through in the quality of her grapes. Her vineyard has well-drained alluvial soil giving her vines well balanced, low vigour canopies.
